“I’m hungry”

What’s for dinner?  Or maybe supper if you live in the mid-west. I grew up for a short time in Nebraska, near Lincoln. It’s funny how some of the lingo is different. Dinner over there means lunch where I am from. Although, recently when I went back to visit family I started hearing people say lunch. They still call soda, “pop”. If you are from the south, “Coke” I hear is the universal term for a Coke, Pepsi and so on.

One common word that everyone understands is supper. Yes, SUPPER, (queue the dramatic 1940’s trombone and tuba step down tone, DA! DA! daaa..). I hope it’s not the last dinner or I mean supper..eehr.. for us as we plan to eat this evening but it may feel like your last because you may have struggle to think of new ideas to keep the family tummies happy. Don’t worry, you are not alone in this conundrum of the day.

Many times I struggle to think of something different to make for the night. How funny, I am writing a blog and created a site to give people new ideas for dinner but I still struggle..that’s realism at its finest! I will admit, at times in our home, we revert back to the Ol’ standby’s. We have tacos a lot, in fact so often you would think it’s Tuesday every day.  I then switched to burros or Burritos if you are not from the desert southwest. Although in Nebraska I ordered a taco and received a burrito..I don’t even know what to say but I will admit it was an ok burro or maybe I was just pretty hungry needing to soak up the beer I drank that night.

My point is we all struggle with a lot things in life and dinner at times will be one of those and that’s OK. Sometimes or most the time we are so fricken busy with life, work, kids school stuff, church, house work..writing a blog and so on. Sometimes the simplest and cheapest approach is the best. Let’s face it, dinner doesn’t always need to be the grand buffet at MGM or Thanksgiving at your Mom’s place. Sometimes dinner needs to be simple, fast, delicious of course and reasonable on the wallet. My first installment of recipes will be old school and from my child hood. So sit back and enjoy some more reading and ideas I have to keep dinner flowing and more time at the table with family. God Bless.
